An intense and exciting day at Mugello International Circuit, which hosted qualifying sessions and the first races of the final round of the ACI Sport championships. With victories, dramatic twists and championship titles decided, Saturday delivered plenty of action at the Tuscan circuit.
In the Italian F4 Championship, 2026 champion Luka Sammalisto, who had already secured the title at Misano, claimed an impressive double victory. He dominated both races from start to finish, starting from pole position in Race 1 and second on the grid in Race 2. Among the protagonists was also Kenzo Craigie, winner of the E4 Championship. The young British driver, a member of the Mercedes Junior Programme, remains in contention for second place in the overall standings and the Rookie title.
In the Italian GT Endurance Championship, pole position went to the Mercedes-AMG GT3 Evo driven by Alba-Ferrari, representing AKM Motorsport. Starting alongside them will be the Audi R8 of Levi-Aka-Frassineti, while the Ferrari 296 GT3 of Balzan-Medler, entered by Rinaldi Racing, will start from third position. In the GT Cup First Division, the fastest time was set by the Lamborghini Huracán Super Trofeo Evo of Roccadelli-Lancillotto, representing SP Racing. In the GT Cup Second Division, Carboni-Di Benedetto-Nicolosi set the fastest time in the Am class, while Gonzalez-Font Casas-Tato Sanchez topped the Pro-Am category.
In TCR Italy, local driver Cosimo Barberini, from Montaione, claimed a home victory behind the wheel of the Cupra Leon VZ entered by Team NOS. He dominated the race from pole position, maintaining the lead all the way to the chequered flag. Meanwhile, second place secured the 2026 TCR Italy Championship title for Michele Imberti, the second of his career following his DSG category triumph in 2020. The Kombat Motorsport driver claimed the championship at the wheel of the Hyundai Elantra N TCR. In the DSG category, Daniele Verrocchio took victory and moved into the lead of the Master standings. Newly crowned champion Francesco Miotto attended the race as a spectator.
There was no shortage of drama in the Porsche Carrera Cup Italia, with a particularly eventful Race 1 featuring three Safety Car interventions and a red flag. At the start, championship leader Andrea Bristot overtook pole-sitter Pietro Delli Guanti to take the lead. The closely fought race ended prematurely following a heavy accident involving Lirim Zendeli and Alexander Tauscher.
Despite an initial investigation into a restart following a Safety Car period, the stewards confirmed Andrea Bristot's victory, officially crowning him 2026 Porsche Carrera Cup Italia Champion. For the Dinamic Motorsport driver, who had already secured the Rookie title, it marks an extraordinary championship double in his debut season.
In the Michelin Cup, local driver Stefano Stefanelli claimed victory ahead of Andrea Galli and Lee Mowle, with the latter taking third place following a penalty handed to Andrea Girondi. It was an unfortunate day for the other title contenders: Cesare Brusa was forced to retire following contact with Karen Gaillard, while Alex De Giacomi was involved in an accident alongside Benjamin Berta and Luciano Martinez.
The ACI Racing Weekend programme will continue on Sunday, November 1, with the first cars taking to the track from 8:40 AM. More races and championship titles are still to be decided, promising a spectacular season finale through Mugello's fifteen corners.
